“It takes a village to raise a child”
A world of uncertainty
All mothers embark on their journey to motherhood with full enthusiasm and passion, but on the way, they often find themselves alone, confused, anxious, and apprehensive for their child’s future. Owing to the Covid19 situation, many mothers are overwhelmed. While their husbands are working from home, their children are homeschooling, the mothers are themselves balancing their office work/ business and managing the home with extended hours.
Why Dialogue hour?
Dialogue hour is an online safe space where we invite mothers from different walks of life to create a supportive parenting network. Collectively we brainstorm on the topics which are worrisome to most of the caretakers. On this platform, we provide an opportunity to everyone to raise their concerns, while others help with the solutions. I personally believe in ‘It takes a village to raise a child’. Now that we are living in nuclear families and also maintaining social distance, I feel it is even more crucial that we mothers come together, share our stories, support each other and feel belonged.
Age of Dialogue Hour
On 7th October 2020, Dialogue hour- season-1 was launched with five sessions.
First dialogue hour went live on 15th October 2020, with eight enthusiastic mothers. Witnessing their eagerness and involvement gave me a sense of achievement and satisfaction.
Power of Dialogue Hour
We discussed various topics: Testing limits, distraction, procrastination, lack of motivation and taking things for granted. These are very simple but profound areas of concern, which are important for the growth of a child and family relationship. Through these sessions, mothers realised that many other families are also undergoing similar challenges. This gave them a sense of relief that they aren’t alone in this journey. Having this realisation, they were less anxious about their children’s attitude and dealing those issues with more awareness.
During this one hour, listening to fellow mothers’ help detect what could be the root cause of their child’s problem, support each other with different tips, they felt empowered to find solutions for their parenting issues.
Future of Dialogue Hour
The longer I work with families, the more I am convinced that one of the ways to help more and more families is to create a like- hearted community. A community is a group of people that enriches each other through their first hand experiences. We can’t rely on old parenting styles as the world is changing so rapidly. Through our conscious, collective and constant effort we can develop an empathetic village of our own which will help us move from self-obsessed individuals to soul-obsessed work.
Dialogue hour in the new world
This platform supports parents to be fully aware of their child’s needs, understanding their interests and admiring their uniqueness. It is about identifying the vision for a family, a desire for constant growth, deep connection, and having mutual respect. All this, bearing in mind and respecting each child’s individuality.
It’s going to be a constant support for the families. The first session of Season-2, Dialogue hour went live on 14th Jan 2021. We ended our last session of season-2 celebrating International Women’s Day 2021 on 11th March with our special guest who spoke about the Power of Change and how women are pivots to create that change.
Our children are growing in a global village, hence we need to consciously create support for ourselves and for them.
Impact of Dialogue Hour?
Having Season-3 coming up, partnering with four passionate mothers who are experts in their subject will bring value to this community. Being on this journey, creating the difference in families, assures me that these dialogues are making an impact (raising awareness) on parenting.
RAE is truly grateful to each and everyone for constantly believing and supporting my dream.
Save the dates and stay tuned to register for these robust sessions.
